BEASTS OF BURDEN

These are common scenes in our neighborhood. Most folks here can’t afford gas let alone a truck. Have grass? Get ox. We now understand the term- strong as an ox. Amazing how much these beasts can move.

It’s about a 20 minute walk from our beach cottage to the real estate office where we can get on the web. About twice a week we trek up there to make these posts and check our email. Very Sad when we don’t get any… So keep your comments coming…good or bad. Hasta luego, The Podos

Hi Pam and Grey,
Jenny and Chris here in Cuenca. Sorry we missed seeing you in Cotacachi...Anyways, we've just caught up with the blog again and my, you two are having fun in paradise! Made us think, did we make a mistake? Should we have checked out that Nica coastline? It will have to wait for another lifetime (say, in 8 years) Cuenca for us is still good and we hope to have our Calle Larga building restored and our cafe, Kookaburra Cafe and Accommodation, running by April/May. We do miss the sand and water though, being Australian. Your photos and blog have made up for it somewhat and that pic of Grey in a rockpool will just have to suffice because sitting in rockpools is my absolute all time favourite activity after shopping and eating. Please do buy something there so we can visit! Reciprocated of course, you can stay in one of our mini apartments when you feel like some mountain ambience. Take care, and despite a dearth of comments in the blogosphere, I know people follow and enjoy your journey!
